Oh my, oh my, I can’t believe my eyes! ZDNet is sadly devastating me with news that Steve Jobs has sold out Firewire for the Intel haven. Ugh, I can’t believe it. Why?! Why would Apple yank a far better and superior technology in favor for USB 2.0? Well, I’m sure it’s for the great OSx386 deal that Apple and Intel made, but man, Steve, did you really have to kill Firewire? Couldn’t you have like killed the Apple Command key instead? I’m so hurt!
I use both Firewire and USB 2.0 on a daily basis. I can tell you right now that I never have problems with Firewire. Never, never, never! Dang, it’s like the only stickin’ technology that I’ve ever used that I can say that with. USB? Oh man, don’t even start me.
What about speed? On paper USB 2.0 is faster then Firewire 400 but truth is, with all the over head of USB on the host computer and none from Firewire, the ‘wire burns USB to a crisp. Oh ya, did I already mention the problems that you can will have with USB?
You know, I love Apple and Steve’s a great guy and all, but dude, if this is true, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I forgave Steve for being a Democrat but man, this is going too far!!
