Mac Users More Satisfied

According to PC Magazine’s 18th Annual Reader Satisfaction Survey, Mac users are - get this - more satisfied. Apple’s survey score blew away Redmond’s finest. According to PC Magazine, “For Apple, in both the desktop and notebook sections of the survey, every single score is significantly better than the industry average for Windows machines. No exceptions.”

This is no surprise to me. As someone who was a die hard PC user for nearly twenty years, I am very happy with my switch to Mac. In fact, I’ve been a Mac user for just weeks now and wonder how I lived all those years.

From time to time I even find myself telling my wife that I am incredibly impressed with how much I can do - and how easy it is to do it on my Mac. That is a first for me.

The article did bring up one point that concerns me, though:

Nonetheless, we’ve heard from readers about problems related to the all-in-one design of the iMac G5. Looking at Apple desktop systems less than a year old, the iMacs (18 percent) were twice as likely to need repairs as PowerMacs (9 percent).
(from PC Mag Reader Satisfaction Survey Results, 2005)

My wife and I now both own iMac G5 computers, so this could really put a damper on our work. I hope that the second (and third) wave of G5 iMacs are less prone to failure. Only time will tell.

But, in my eyes, just the chance at freedom from the Windows dungeon makes my Mac worth every penny.
