Intuit Announces Release Of Quicken Mac 2006

On Monday, Intuit announced the release of Quicken for Mac 2006.

This version will include 50 enhancements and Mac only features, such as integration with Apple’s .Mac service. A new feature called Smart Payee will help customers by making it easier to read downloaded bank transactions.

Jim Dalrymple of Macworld writes:

“Intuit on Monday announced the release of Quicken for Mac 2006, the
newest version of the company’s personal finance application. In
addition to more than 50 enhancements in the new version, Quicken 2006
also includes some Mac only features such as integration with Apple’s
.Mac service.

One new feature called Smart Payee is aimed at helping customers save
time and make reading downloaded bank transactions easier. Often times
when statements are downloaded from a bank they include extraneous
information like the store number that make reading the statement more
difficult. With Smart Payee you can change the name to something simpler and all future occurrences will be automatically renamed for you.

As an exclusive Macintosh feature in Quicken, when a Smart Payee is
defined, all past transactions are also changed, making reports more
manageable and easier to read, according to Intuit. There is also a way
to reverse the Smart Payee feature to revert all information back to the way it was originally on the bank statement.

“Smart Payee is a huge timesaver that’s very easy for the customer to
setup and use,” Aruna Harder, Quicken Product Manager, told MacCentral.
“Customers want to ensure the accuracy of their transactions.”

Another feature included in the new version specifically for Mac users
is integration with Apple’s .Mac service. If you have a .Mac account you can now back up your financial data from Quicken. While the feature
doesn’t allow information to be synced on multiple computers like iSync, it does allow newer data to be restored on another computer from .Mac.”
