The word over at iPod Garage:
If you’ve been paying attention, then you already knew it was happening. But thanks to the research released today by Wall Street analyst Piper Jaffray, we now have numbers to support the phenomenon that we’ve been witnessing in the iPod Garage Forums and other places: Windows users who buy an iPod for use with their PC, are in fact coming back later and replacing that PC with a Macintosh. Well, at least six percent of them, anyway.
According to Piper Jaffray’s research, an estimated six percent of all iPod users have switched from a Windows computer to a Macintosh since buying their iPod, and an additional seven percent plan to do so within the next twelve months. Apparently, the other eighty-seven percent of iPod users were either Mac users to start with, or are Windows users who currently have no plans to buy a Mac. It’s not clear how Windows users were treated if they bought their first Mac at the same moment that they bought their iPod.
