Years ago when the first Power Macs came on the scene, Mac gaming was great. Mac users had fun titles you couldn’t find anywhere else. Even more titles started out on Macs and were later ported to the PC. Some oldies but goodies you may remember are Spectre, Marathon, and The Adventures of Willy Beamish.
After that, some of the great games seemed to neglect the Mac. Over the past couple of years though, game developers realized what a mistake that was. Big titles like Neverwinter Nights, Oni, Myst and Halo have all been released on the Mac, making countless gamers ecstatic. Well, I’ve got news for you: Its going to get even better.
Over the Edge Entertainment is poised to fuel more Mac game development. Their 3D game engine, Unity, is due to be released first-quarter 2005. It should make native Mac (and Windows) game development cheap and efficient. With another great player on the scene, Mac users can crack their fingers and gear up for a new wave of Mac games. I’m ready and waiting. Are you?
