Fine Wine For Your Mac

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll probably note that although Macs have been lauded as “far superior” by many of the Apple fanboys, their software selection is still not quite up to par with a PC user’s selection. Does this mean you need a PC to run PC software? Does this mean you need the expensive VirtualPC to run PC software? Not at all! In fact, the solution to this often asked about issue is absolutely free.

Many Linux users are familiar with Wine for their OS - a program that allows Linux to run PC applications in the Linux environment. That means no loading a Windows emulator, no loading Windows, period! Should Mac users be so lucky? With Darwine, Mac users finally have the ability to drop Windows once and for all.

Though still in a limited stage, Darwine will allow users to load older Windows applications. The requirement for this excellent program is OS X Panther - just another great excuse to upgrade and, possibly, just another great excuse to finally switch! [Jared Hudgins]
