Well, I figured this was going to happen… Apple isn’t giving the new 4th Gen “click wheel” firmware options to the 3rd Gen iPod users. Typical of Apple to piss off current hardware owners.

Lets see if all the negative feedback changes Apple’s tune (it’s doubtful).

The latest firmware download “2004-07-15″ is an all-in-one package that has the following iPod software:

• iPod Software 3.0 for Click Wheel iPod
• iPod Software 1.1 for iPod mini
• iPod Software 2.2 for iPod with dock connector
• iPod Software 1.4 for Touch Wheel iPod & Scroll Wheel iPod

So let me be clear… only the 4th Gen “click wheel” iPods will have the following:

• Shuffle songs with one click
• Create multiple On-The-Go playlists
• Delete songs from On-The-Go playlists
• Select reading playback speed for audiobooks
• Hear the clicker user interface sound through headphones
• Charge via USB 2.0 connection
• Enjoy improved playback performance
