The FireFox browser and Sage RSS extension

Following up on
Emrys’ entry on RSS readers, I’ve discovered RSS joy with FireFox and the Sage newsreader extension.
My personal experience with FireFox is that it’s a very good browser, made better by the fact that it has tabbed browsing. And pop up blocking. And selective cookie blocking. And that it doesn’t have an e-mail client bundled with it.
But even better than all those, and numerous other features, are the “extensions” which can be installed for added functionality.
As I noted, my favorite extension right now is the RSS reader Sage, which, once installed, is integrated into the browser.
Your feeds are viewed in a sidebar, and, of course, are loaded in a tab when clicked upon.
One quibble: It can be a bit of a pain to set up initially, and I’ve had issues importing opml files (as in…I’ve been wildly unsuccessful. This seems to be a known issue, but no word on when it might be fixed.)
But…once it’s set up, adding new feeds is as easy as drag and drop.
My second favorite extension? It’s available only for the PC version right now, but it’s a CSS editor. It shows the style sheet in the sidebar, and any changes made in the side bar are reflected immediately in the page I’m viewing. Very cool, and a great way to start learning about style sheets. When using FireFox on a PC.
Now. If only there was a way to enable spellchecking while I type, like in Apple’s Safari broswer…
