RSS newsreaders

Almost every aspect of the Lockergnome sites offer an RSS feed to keep tabs on updates and posts…

To fully utilize the wealth of RSS feeds at LG, and the rest of the net, you need a solid newsreader. I personally use NetNewsWire, but there are many other options; today I’m sharing 2.

Ranchero Software, the makers of NetNewsWire, offer two versions of their newsreader application: NetNewsWire (shareware, $39.95), and a scaled down NetNewsWire Lite (freeware, download link at bottom of page). View Comparison Chart. I use NetNewsWire because it is simple but very powerful at the same time with it’s many features; and I can’t go without mentioning that it’s GUI is very clean and OS X like.

I’ve also tried NewsMac 3 (donationware), from ThinkMac Software. I think NewsMac is looking very promising, but I personally don’t care for the layout and how some of the options work…

Both NetNewsWire and NewsMac are great newsreader apps, and both approach the way their programmers think features should be laid-out on the screen. Try them out, and make your own decision.

What Do You Think?
