The new Safari 3.1 is out. It looks great. It’s still nice and fast. It still doesn’t have a cluttered up toolbar. I’ve still got my debug mode only now it’s called “Develop” and is slimmed down a bit.I still don’t like the way Safari handles bookmarks. Adding a bookmarks folder and a new bookmark is still a complicated process in my opinion. When I tell firefox that I want to bookmark something, a little window comes up with a drop down menu asking me where I’d like the bookmark to be placed. There is also a button to create a new folder right on this very same menu. In Safari, this is always at least a two step process. I have to create a new bookmarks folder from the Bookmarks menu option, and then I get to go back to that menu (or press command + D) and add a new bookmark naming it whatever I want. I guess I could just press command + shift + N in the first place but then I would still have to click and drag where I want that new folder to be placed, and also press command + D and tell Safari where I want the new bookmark stored. It just seems easier in Firefox to me. I mean, after pressing command + D or control + D (Windows) in any other browser out there, there’s a New Folder button in the same window where you name your bookmark. Why doesn’t Safari do this?Other than that, it’s still my default browser, still the fastest browser out there. It’s even faster than Opera.
