Heres a little Presidential Debate I did on the Democratic Debate on thursday. The beginning is unedited, and the rest is just what I typed as I went… But here you go!
After 17 debates there are 2 democrats left from the starting 8. Obama says from the start that he or Hillary will be the president who wins the election. Obama says he loves the country, and says that he is friends with Hillary and will even be after the debate. Straight from the beginning he makes a point to say something about fixing poverty and issues with money. Doesn’t think choice is about sex color or age. Says its past vs future. Clinton starts off saying the date of when the next president will be sworn in and says she believes that the president is sitting in front of them right now. (Referring that she, or Obama will win.) She also talks about the insurance issues with poor people. She wants a president who can start working and doing their job from day one, and thanks John Elizabeth Edwards. Say there is 37 million americans below the poverty line. Guy asks what the most important difference is between Hillary and Obama. Hillary talks about her and Obama’s differences, and she says how she is looking to fix health care and the mortgage crisis. She wants to freeze interests rates for 5 years, help people keep their homes and not loose them, and more on the subject. Obama says that their plans are very similar and they both set up the same type of Health Insurance and both want to implement better ways to help people get insurance. He says the reason people can not get insurance is because they cant afford it, and Obama wants to look towards lowering the cost, so that people can buy it more. Clinton wants to force people into getting health insurance, and Obama is against that. He says that people who cant afford and and need to get it by being forced to will have a lot of issues and Obama does not want to have to take the money out of peoples paychecks.
Obama wants to bridge lenders and borrowers to help people stay in their homes. Obama says he was opposed from Iraq from the start, and wants to not look back but look forward. Obama wants to meet them, talk with them, and fix things to save money, lives, and other things being caused by the war. The next question was asked, and said, “Why is your plan superior to Hillary’s if 15 million people still wont get it?”. Obama says that anyone who wants the healthcare can get it, and he says that the 15 million is of people who don’t want it. He says that he mandates coverage for all children, and says that if people could not afford it he would give them the resources to. He wants people under 25 years old to be covered under their parents plan. He says you can mandate it, but people still wont be able to afford it, and then he asks what will happen to people if this occurs. Clinton is asked about what she thinks, and she says that Health care was the start of her public attempts for president. She says that she wants to maximize choice for people, and says that people who are uninsured or underinsured will have the plan open to them. She says she can make the plan open for everyone, and wants to make sure that it is available, and says that it has been designed for everyone. Hillary says that many people can get health care and do not want to spend the money for it because they say that they don’t need it. She wants universal healthcare, or we will be “nibbled to death”.
Obama says that some of the subsidies will not be enough, and doesn’t want to cap premiums, but lower them. Hillary wants the drug companies to be involved in helping make drugs to be cheaper and help more people. Obama is asked about the raising of taxes, and Obama says that he is fine with the republicans trying to argue with them, because they are doing wrong giving tax cuts to rich people when we didn’t even ask and not giving tax cuts to other people. Obama says that we can save billions by rolling back the bush tax cuts and more. He says they need to work on who the tax cuts are for and not about the tax cuts themselves. He wants tax cuts to people making under $75000, and get rid of taxes for senior citizens making less than $50000. Hillary says she wants to pay for her 110 billion expense by taxing people higher if they make over $250000, and that would make $55 billion a year, and that the rest would be made from better efficiencies. She talks about how we are the people who spend the most in healthcare, but we are not the people with the best statistics coming from this. Hillary wants electronic medical records and thinks that they would save $77 billion a year that could be put in to making sure that our healthcare system has enough access, so that you will have access to healthcare info anywhere, and so that you can get healthcare from wherever you are. Obama says that paying for people to have the ability to run EMR’s will save money by helping the medical companies with running this software that will increase ease of use.
Clinton and Obama start talking about giving drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, and Hillary is against it because it is loosing jobs for people. She says that someone said to her that he is loosing job opportunities, because people who are in the country illegally are stealing all of his jobs. Hillary will deport people who have committed a crime from their original country, and says that people who can learn english, pay a fine, and pay taxes can wait in line, and then unveil privileges in the country. The next topic brought up is that Hillary has more experience with government, and Obama says that he thinks that is wrong, and that many people disagree with Hillary having more experience, and he also thinks that having something new is better than having the same thing over and over again.
The next thing asked is how Hillary and Obama are to help businesses if they have no experience running them. Hillary says that she believes that the whole government itself is a business and that it is much more than that, and it is non-profit. Hillary is asked about what she thinks of the Kennedy’s supporting Obama, and three of the Kennedy kids supporting Hillary. (A part that I didn’t get much of, so I wont really talk about that.) Obama is now asked about the 8 years with Bill Clinton, and is asked about what we should think about and if we should be thinking about that when voting for Hillary or Obama. Obama says that we are bringing in a whole new generation of voting, and thinks that part of the task is being able to call on the american people to reach higher. He thinks that we should not be talking about Bill in relation to Hillary’s campaign. Obama says that the number of people voting in the new democratic primarys has doubled.
The topic of having the same two families in the white house for the past 30 years is brought up, and Hillary adds that she thinks it is unfortunate to have a Bush in the white house right now. Hillary says that it took a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush, and that it will take another Clinton to clean up the mess of the second. Hillary, talking about pulling out of iraq, says that she wants to pull out all troops within her first year in office, and Obama talks about taking out all the troops because there are many other places threatening our country and Iraq is just wasting money on a war that isn’t improving the safety of our country. Hillary says the bordering countries will have a bunch of problems with the withdrawal of troops in Iraq and that we will need to help the surrounding countries and create better bonds with them.

I do not think that 1.9% of Americans can be taxed enough to pay for 95% of Americans to a tax cut. Per Rocky Mountain News, number of Americans making less then $250000 is currently 98.1%
