Wife’s Visa Petition Submitted

Well we have officially submitted the petition for my wife’s visa this past Wednesday. We are currently waiting for the Visa approval, or to see if they need for proof of our relationship and marriage. Hopefully not. We’ve been married for 7 months now so I think we have accumulated enough time together and enough proof of relationship to make the process smoother than if we had submitted it when our marriage was just 2 or 3 months old. We are using a visa service, so our paperwork goes to an American lawyer in Manila who is well versed in Immigration law (one would assume).  I can think of only one thing we forgot and that was a collection of photos which we will send off soon.

That is the latest on our visa adventures. Let you know what happens next.

Don’t take this the wrong way. Didn’t you put the cart before the horse? Getting maried before the visa paperwork is done would worry me. I looked into this fiancee visa deal several years ago when I looked into possibly finding a foreign wife from the former Soviet Republics. I also read that the State Dept. trys to put roadblocks in the way of foreign brides. They think most are sham marriages. I suspect that we’re friendlier with the PI since we import alot of nurses and doctors from over there apparently with not much trouble.

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you. Even though American and Canadian rules governing visa’s and immigration are very different I know through a friend how hard this can be. Keep working at it and eventually your efforts should pay off.
