Scribd.com: Gotta Love It

  • No Related Post

I was bouncing around the ‘net the other day just casually surfing and looking up some information to satisfy the politics junkie in me. My bouncing around lead me to a website that I had found sometime ago and hadn’t booked marked. Scribd.com is a wonderful website for publishing documents to the web.  They support Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenOffice, regular text documents ( Something you wrote on the Notepad, for example) and these picture formats, jpg, png, gif, and tiff. And these documents then can be embedded into a blog or website. The other cool feature is the clickable link inside the document window. You do have to sign up to be able to upload, but you can read the uploaded documents from other individuals without signing up.
While I haven’t used it to publish anything, it is a repository many documents of some which I have found helpful, and probably will continue to find things there that I need and want to read.

Features:

  • Search and Advanced Search option (What searchable website doenst have this?)
  • Multiple Formats (Good for anyone from the business man to the self-publisher.)
  • If the document you are reading gives a website address, Scribd.com converts it to a link   which is clickable inside the document Window.
  • Groups/Websites/Individuals that have uploaded are a part of a “Community” in which you can join the groups created by different uploaders, add documents, and start discussions.

I like Scribd.com and if you haven’t heard of it give it a look and let me know what you think by posting a comment. If you find something from Scribd.com you think is worth reading post it in the comments as well.
