Christians blowing people up?…
Recently I read a post on CNET about a church(s) that are allowing their youth to play halo and other rated “M” games as a recreational activity and incentive for youth to start coming to the church.
Like many I am familiar with teh Christian beliefs. The name Jesus must ring a bell for you.
Given this and how I view video games and them being used for church puspoes. I have to disagree with the usage of rate “M” games being used to attract new youth to a church. I think the incentive is the wrong incentive. It is a temporary one. Let me ask this: What happens if another church down the road gets the new “Halo 4″ if there were one.? And the current church with the Halo 3 can’t afford to buy another game like Halo 4?
This says that the method is very temporary and is also not genuine. Yes you can go to church and play video games, but does that mean you are going there for the right reason? I think not. In the scenario I just gave the average teenager would go to the church/group that has the latest and greatest. That’s how our society works. The best is the most attractive.
The method is temporary and not genuine. Base the attraction for kids to the church on the bible and nothing else. If anything else, base it on building genuine relationships with them.
