Upload Files Without FTP?

I got a question E-mailed to me a few days ago wanting to know if knew of a quick and easy way to upload files to a hosting account without using an FTP client. Now there are more than a few, I can promise you that. One of the easiest ways might be right under your nose.
When you got your Web hosting account, chances are they gave you access to a control panel as well. No matter if it was Plesk, Helm, or cPanel - the choice should be there to login to your file manager. Now depending on the control panel you use, it might be named something else or located in an odd location. For the most part though, it should be accessible from the first screen of your control panel.
Once you click on that file manager icon, you should be launched into a new screen that provides you with a neat Web page based navigation of all your files and folders. From this point on, everything should look pretty familiar. You click on a folder to see what is in side of it. You can browse through the options of what you can do with that file or folder. It is all basic, yet helpful tools to get you going.
Somewhere in the file manager you should see an upload option. All you need to do from there is make sure you are in the folder you want the content uploaded to, click the upload link, and then select the files you wish to upload. It is like FTP without the FTP client in between.
After uploading, your file manager should take you back to the folder you uploaded the content to. From there you can check it out or perform any other options you need to do on the file. So there you have it, an easy way to upload that you should have by default with your Web hosting account. Each Web host has different methods and different control panels, so if you have any questions be sure to check with them to see what the best method for you is.
