This week Linux.Ars gives you three articles bundled together. The first deals with installing Slax 4.2.0 on a USB key. “The combination of a USB key and SLAX, the Linux distro used in this example, is a powerful combination when it comes to troubleshooting and spreading the word about Linux. The ability to boot the key, browse the computer’s hard drive (SLAX has NTFS support built in), and then locate and burn a file to CD can be very helpful, especially with a computer that is on its last legs. So grab your key and come with me; when we’re done you’ll have a new tool to help out in the computing trenches.”

The next article is titled “TTT: Tools, Tips and Tweaks? Doing the NVIDIA drivers ‘The Debian Way’ under sarge or sid.” A very nice step by step tutorial on installing NVIDIA drivers. The articles gives in-depth information on the packages you need to have prior to NVIDIA driver installation as well as the how and where of installing these packages. Lastly the editing of the relevant config files are covered in great detail.

The last article highlights a graphical filesystem utility called Filelight. Of course there may be commandline utilities that perform similar functions, but who amongst us doesn’t enjoy a colorful graphical display?
