Damn Small Linux 0.8.1

One of my favorite distros has come out with a new version again. This is a great distro for older machines that don’t require a lot of RAM and hard drive space. I currently have it running on a linux machine that is a PII 400 and 64MB of RAM and it works great. The mydsl has been updated nicely in version 0.8 and more and more themes are now available for downloading also. It also works great on new machines, so don’t let me throw you off when I say good for older machines.

“Added ‘Make USB edition’ to tools menu; enhanced mkmydsl script to pass boot time options to CD; new filetool GUI front-end to file backup and restore; enhanced dslpanel, added printer setup and new filetool GUI; enhanced mydslgui, supports more network types; enhanced filetool.sh, simplify device, works with USB pen drive (sda1); enhanced mydsl-load, supports runlevel 2; fixed changing passwords on live CD.”

Why are you referring us to a 2+ year old review of Damn Small Linux and a dead link to an obsolete version? The Lockergnome newsletters used to be on top of it but are pretty dismal lately.

Thanks for your work in trying to get info out there, even if it is dated.

Well, if you look at the date this was posted (September 9, 2004), Lockergnome was plenty on top of it!

Cheers!
