Linux Pipeline | News | Microsoft Slashes Prices As Paris Eyes Linux
It seems to me that MS still doesn’t get it. Every time lately a government has considered using Linux, MS has decided to drop their prices to that country (maybe all you Windows users here in the U.S. should try that). True, by lowering their prices, they should be more competitve with Linux, but only if that were the sole consideration. MS is totally missing the point that the open source philosophy and security are just as important in these considerations. By using open source software and operating systems, the code can be examined any time to prevent corruption or hacking. And this also adds to the security of the already secure Linux distributions. Governments are usually concerned with security even more than pricing. And on that front, there’s no real competition.
