Hey! Before you automatically jump onto the Dell side of the fence, it might be worth considering Sony for your new notebook needs. Sure, they don’t get the sort of press coverage that other brands seem to achieve, but some of the Sony models are not half bad.
Sony is upgrading three different lines of their notebooks. They are sounding pretty damn sexy so far. These updates are slated to be available in the coming months.

This A500 series laptop is a powerhouse machine, good for people doing high-end computer work and wanting a desktop replacement. Highlighting this machine is the Pentium M 760 processor clocking in at 2GHz, a full gigabyte of DDR2 SDRAM and even a 120 GB SATA hard drive, yes SATA in a laptop. This lappy also features a 17” widescreen WXGA+ screen being powered by a 256 MB Radeon x600 with resolutions up to 1440 x 900.
What’s that Timmy? Yes, there’s more!? The A517S model even features a media center dock. The dock offers a TV tuner and MPEG encoder. Don’t forget the dual layer DVD burner. [Read the rest]
