AMD Adds Low-Power Turion Chips

As Pat from This Week in Tech recently pointed out recently, AMD is finally getting a handle on their mobile processors. But let’s get ExtremeTech’s perspective on the new Turion 64-bit processors…

Advanced Micro Devices released a pair of mobile Turion 64-bit processors on Monday, both of which will appear in boutique notebooks from VoodooPC.

The AMD MT-40 and MT-37 will form the new high end of the Turion “MT” family, the designation used for AMD’s thin-and-light processors that use a 25-watt thermal design power envelope. A second family, the “ML” family, was designed for faster notebooks that consume up to 35 watts of power. [Read the rest]
