SmartDisk expands FireLite external drive line

Oh coolies, looks like SmartDisk is getting ready to release three new editions of its FireLite external portable hard disk drives. Connectivity provided by FireWire, the devices weigh in at about 6 ounces.

Another cool feature that will be music to the ears of Mac and Windows users is that you will not need any special drivers in order to get these drives running. The prices will range from $159.99 to $249.99 depending on capacity and the interface as well.

SmartDisk Corp. on Wednesday announced three new editions of its FireLite external portable hard disk drive line: The FireWire 800 FireLite 80GB, FireWire FireLite 100GB and USB FireLite 100GB. Equipped with magnesium cases and weighing about 6 ounces, the hard drive works without any additional drivers on Mac OS X and Windows operating systems. The Web site had not been updated with new information about the drives as MacCentral posted this article.
