Just DISC-IT, buddy!

As I read through this press release for the new DISC-IT! product, I felt like I was reading an article about my own desk habits. If I had a penny for everytime a disk got lost or scratched because I placed it on my desk “just for a minute”, I would be a very wealthy man.

The DISC-IT! thingy looks like a cross between a funnel and a suction cup. Pure genius in its simplicity, DISC-IT! will have to be cataloged under the “why didn’t I think of it” file I am afraid. This is actually something that retains the basic low-tech mentality while lending a badly needed hand to the high-tech world with its clever design.

How Disc-it!™ works is pure simplicity. A base to raise the disc, a stainless steel ball atop of the base to hold the discs, and a cone on top of the ball to aid placement of the CD’s and stop the discs from dismounting the device. CD’s just sit there in a pivotal manner, elevated from any damaging surfaces by the device. The discs themselves are separated from each other by the integral stacking ring that is built around the hole of all CD’s.
This concept may seem too simple to grasp by people requiring a desktop CD storage device that demands any concentration and a certain degree of dexterity, or even a clear line of sight in order to use the product. “Disc-it!™ employs the patented holding design in order to make it incredibly easy to use, even if the device is placed high above the users head and even out of view” stated Scanlan, “One person likened it’s ease of use as throwing hoops over a match stick” he added. “The problem with present disc storage devices is that no one is providing consumers with any alternatives to the standard ‘long term storage’ products that have been frustrating their owners to the point that they rarely actually use them, once you have a Disc-it!™, CD’s end up sitting safely on it, just waiting to be used”.
