Looks like Google has another project it is working on. This time it’s Google Mobile for the Enterprise.

It looks like Google and Motorola have teamed up to provide mobile access through the Enterprise enabling a user to access information without having to jockey between screens to get it. Google it appears has developed a system in which a mobile user can use a search box which requires:

“just a few keywords to bring back results, search makes efficient use of the keypads, screens and bandwidth available on mobile devices. In addition, by leveraging Google OneBox for Enterprise, search can be the gateway into all sorts of enterprise applications.”

If you have ever used a mobile device, then you know how hard it is to use the keyboard to enter in data, such as a URL on a small screen. Plus the error rate is very high because of this limitation compared to a notebook computer. But as mobile devices become more popular and more content becomes available, seeking to improve the mobile device is a great idea.

And I would venture a guess that if Google is going to provide this service for the Enterprise customer, it will only be a matter of time before we consumers see a similar offering from Google.

This reminds me of a line from the movie Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid in which they are being pursued by a band of lawmen who they can’t seem to shake when the question comes up “who are those guys?”

Maybe that would be a fitting phrase to use when we speak of Google.
