What is the Best Tablet for a College Student?
Gnomie Daniel Stransky asks:
“What tablet would you advise for a college student?”
If you’re a prospective college student with a budget that’s nudging you to invest in a tablet computer, the choices before you may be a little overwhelming. Probably the best place to begin when deciding what tablet computer is right for you is by consulting with your future professors or college administration to find out what kind of software is commonly used in class. If it’s a primarily Windows (or Flash) based curriculum, then an iPad may not be your wisest investment purely for this purpose. If your college is on board with the way that Apple does things, then an iPad may be exactly the right thing for you to pick up. If your college has one way of doing things, but it’s planning on switching to another, then you’ll likely want to be prepared for the switch, too.
But really, aside from all of that, the best choice for you is going to be what makes you the most comfortable. There is no right answer when it comes to the debate over operating systems or the hardware that they run upon. It’s as simple as that. Unless the wise old owls at your college information office don’t tell you that you must conform to one platform over another, your needs will likely be met by some cross platform magic if it comes down to it.
Of course, you’d think that Chris Pirillo would pull your sleeve and tell you that the Apple iPad is the way to go — but it surprisingly ain’t so in this case. What does LockerGnome’s tech sage have to say about the choices involved with selecting the tablet computer that will best suit your college needs?
Just be careful, because he goes a little heavy on an entree of Don Rickles with a side dish of Snoop Dogg to tide you over toward the end of this video. He probably means you no harm, but have your finger near the volume settings just in case it gets a little hectic for your home office or wherever you’re enjoying this.
