Space shuttles and rockets are not the only things being launched at Kennedy Space Center. Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex recently launched a new Web site with the help of MarketNet, a Dallas-based interactive agency!
Kennedy Space Center, NASA’s launch headquarters, is the only place on Earth where you can tour launch areas, meet a veteran astronaut, see giant rockets, train in spaceflight simulators, and even view a launch. The driving force of the Web site redesign was to bring the excitement of the complex to the Internet.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and Delaware North Companies selected MarketNet to make their Web site vision a reality. MarketNet incorporated a seamless blend of social networking tools, user-generated content and interactive visuals in the Web site’s design.
The new site features an engaging animated interactive map which allows Web site visitors to preview the visitor complex and plan their trip. Visitors can upload their photos to the site for inclusion in one of the many online photo galleries once they return back home.
Interested in when the next launch occurs? The Web site includes a launch countdown clock and an interactive calendar of activities. The new site also includes social bookmarking tools so that visitors can share their favorite information easily with their friends.
“We see the Web site not as just an online brochure but as a natural extension of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex experience,” said Jill Bach, founder and principal of MarketNet.
Matthew Slipkowsky, Marketing Manager for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex said “Response to the new Web site has been tremendous. We are pleased to see such a high percentage of site visitors using the new tools including the visitor photo gallery, events calendar and interactive map. “The new development allows visitors planning a trip to Central Florida to gain a much better understanding of the full scope of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex experience.”
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is operated by Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts, Inc. on behalf of NASA.
