Deadbeat eBay Sellers & Bidders

Two things make today’s Warped site a very important one. Number one is that eBay has changed the way the America buys and sells. Number two is that forewarned is forearmed. So click on and you’ll see what I mean.

The name of the site is Deadbeat eBay Sellers and Bidders. The main strength of eBay is the honesty and reputation of its sellers and buyers. Through a feedback system, users can see just how honest and reputable a prospective buyer is, or the quality of products that someone is selling. But eBay is also a refuge for those looking to make an easy buck. According to this Webmaster, it is a haven for deadbeats, slackers, misers, and con-men. I wouldn’t go that far, but I do agree that there are some folks there who must have a hard time sleeping at night with what they charge for shipping. This site highlights some of those folks so others can be warned about them before they encounter them on the site.

Some of the users who are highlighted include:

  • dm1968: charges excessive shipping fees, has almost 900 negative feedbacks
  • 6778: leaves negative feedback saying that bidders had harassed him and asked him for child pornography
  • chicagocomputerguy: pocketed $680 and didn’t send out a single item
  • ricki8lakeandbricomot: not only a non-paying bidder, but also doesn’t answer emails

The motto of this site should be caveat emptor. But the main message is: Look at the feedback of anyone you are looking at doing business with on eBay. It can be worth spending a little time being forewarned about users.

I’m going to have to contest one of their points. I sell on eBay, and I charge $5.00 shipping on most of my items. (It’s actually about to go up, because USPS is raising rates, again…)

“shipping costs $5.00 and that it could take 3-4 weeks to receive your item. 5 bucks could easily cover priority shipping, yet when you receive your item a month after paying you’ll notice he pays less than $1.50 on shipping. Therefore, he is netting an additional $3.50 PER SOLD ITEM!”

Not necessarily. That $3.50 goes to cover packing costs, gas and other costs associated with shipping an item. $5.00 is not excessive for an item, in fact, it might not be high enough, unfortunately.

This site seems VERY outdated.. Most of the links seem invalid too. The main point is, buyer beware, and check their feedback!

When you buy something from one of the jerks that site is about you’ll understand. For example, bid ends on a passive adapter cable which weighs a fraction of a pound and ended at $0.99 - one of these scammers will then try to charge you $15 shipping on it, and if you decline to pay it YOU get the negative feedback.

This would be awesome of any of the links listed in it were good but the site owner uses a lot of questionable language, which undermines his credibility insofar as I’m concerned, and every off-site link I clicked on was broken. If you were trying to make a case for eBay having gone in and deliberately removed any evidence pointed to by this site then it’s a fair reference but not entirely credible when I consider that I too could probably fabricate some bad links to eBay pages if I was so inclined. *shrug* An ambiguous link at best.

Anonymous is an idiot. If you knew the shipping was $15 when you bid why are you complaining? You think you should get the item for .99? Are you a f*cking moron or what? The sellers do this to avoid paying ebay final value fees on the items sale price. Anyone with any brains takes this into consideration when they bid. The shipping is basically covering the cost of the item. What so you think it is free? Go back to sleep….

all ebay sellers need a site to list our feedback for all our deadbeat buyers… list thier names to save all sellers..
