Retro Future

Yogi Berra had a saying: “Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be,” or words to that effect. It is interesting to look at technology from years gone by and see just how much we have changed. It is also interesting to look at the past, and see what their vision of the future was. There is an innocence to doing that, considering what we know now. But looking to the future back then was sure fun.

The name of today’s Warped site is Retro Future. It is dedicated to those concepts of science past that were once the dreams of science future. There is some very interesting information here, such as Walt Disney’s Project X. Do you know what that is? It is called EPCOT, but here you will see what Walt really had in mind. Then you will learn about the 2-Way Wrist Radio of Dick Tracy fame, and how it came to be real. Then there are the Space Odysseys, Flying Cars, Smell-o-Vision, and Bucky’s Dymaxion World (for that you have to look yourself).

It is interesting to see what our vision of the future was 50 years ago, and how our understanding of it was clouded by our lack of knowledge. It will be more interesting to see what the world is like 50 years from, to see how clouded our minds are today. The Warp-o-Meter gives this site an 8.5 rating.
