Regifting has a rather tainted image, though I’m sure you’ve seen it on TV where say, Peter gives a painting from his in-laws he really hates to say, Quagmire (doubt this really happened, but something similar has probably happened, knowing Family Guy). In other words, regifting is that time-honored tradition of taking a gift you received, and packaging it up as a gift for someone else. Now, for you regifters, there’s a Web site dedicated to regifting and to the question: is this tacky or savvy?
That’s the debate underway at regiftable.com, a new Web site created by Money Management International, a nonprofit organization based in Houston that does consumer education and financial counseling.
MMI created the site because “whether or not you’re a fan or a foe, regifting has become a phenomenon,” said MMI spokeswoman Kim McGrigg. And it does constitute a spending alternative as the holiday season approaches. [Source: Yahoo! News]
We Say: Not totally altruistic, as obviously MMI would like you to take a look at its other “offerings,” but still… on the other hand, what do you RTN readers think of regifting?

The word “Regifting” did not come from Family Guy. It came long before that, it was born on the Jerry Sienfeld Show.

Regifting seems like the next level beyond a Yankee Swap!
