From fishing lures to high-tech footwear, these must-have items showcase the diverse ways in which Nanotechnology, MEMS, and other emerging technologies are being utilized in products for the consumer.
Bourne Research, a market research firm which tracks emerging technologies, today revealed its list of the ten coolest consumer products of 2006, featuring just a few of the “must have” items which utilize the latest in MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) and Nanotechnology. All of these products are available to consumers today and many are ideal for a range of gift-giving budgets.
“What makes these ten products so unique is the way next-generation sensors, materials, and other high-tech approaches are being used to differentiate them from other products in their class,” said Marlene Bourne, President & Principal Analyst of Bourne Research. “It’s this level of innovation that gave these items the wow factor necessary to make the list.”
The Bourne Report’s Ten Coolest Consumer Products of 2006 includes items from companies such as Hasbro, Nintendo, Estee Lauder, and Patek Philippe. Some of the products on the list include Premium Plus Interior Sateen paint from Behr, the LP4100 cell phone from LG Electronics, the NuMetrex sports bra from Textronics, and the SilverCare washing machine from Samsung. The breakthrough nature of these particular products is expected to open the door to many similar items over the coming year.
