The Bermuda Triangle

You’ve probably heard of this place before. It has been featured in movies and television shows, and even kids cartoons. But here is an official explanation of the site, as provided by our US Navy. I guess it would know better than anyone else.

The site is called The Bermuda Triangle. It is physically a location that is off the eastern coast of the United States, but is not officially a geographic location. There is a higher than normal rate of ships and planes disappearing in this region than anywhere else in the world. This site is sponsored by the Naval Historical Center, which is part of the Department of the Navy (an official US government agency, BTW). Here the history of the Triangle is explained, with an emphasis on the case that first brought it to the public’s attention, Flight 19. A lot of good information is presented here, without the language that you find in many government-sponsored sites.

It is nice to see that our government is starting to explain and present what it knows about some of these mysterious sites that run rampant with rumors. Now if it would just have a page for Area 51…
