Looking for something to do on that next vacation? Bored and want to do something different this weekend? How about an activity that has 281,971 physical locations in 222 countries? Have I got your attention? If so, then head over to the Warped site today at warp speed.
The site is called Geocaching, and it is the Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site. Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a GPS unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the Internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is, if they get something, they should try to leave something for the cache.
My brother is the one who told me about this sport. He spends quite a bit of his off time doing hunts, and it can be addicting. I did a search for my address, and a one mile radius, and turned up ten caches of stored stuff. This may not be a mainstream vacation activity, but with all the people around the world who are participating, you won’t be alone in your adventures. Warped rating on this site is 7.0.
