Rumors were flying about this last Friday and over the weekend, and Monday, despite the normal “No Comment” over the last few days, Google completed the purchase of YouTube with a deal valued at $1.65 Billion. That’s Billion with a “B.”
The all-stock acquisition unites one of the Internet’s marquee companies with one of its rapidly rising stars. The price makes YouTube, a still-unprofitable startup, by far the most expensive purchase made by Google during its eight-year history. [Source: Yahoo! News]
We Say: Undoubtedly the deals that were announced earlier here and here were related to this deal. This means Stephen Colbert will have to move his blue-screen Jedi knight video contest to… say… GoogleTube?
