On our sister site, Caption This,we featured a picture of a man with a beard shaped like a windmill. The object of this site is to look at a picture, and give it a humorous caption. It was an interesting beard. I have had one for 30 years, but nothing like that one. Today I came across a site where the gentleman from Caption-This would feel at home. It makes a great Warped site for today.

The site is the World Beard and Moustache Championships. They will be held in Brighton, England on Saturday, September 1, 2007. That is a ways off, you say, so why are you mentioning it today? Well, I’m glad you asked. There are two upcoming championships in the United States that have an impact on the world one. If you are in New York City on May 16th, or North Lake Tahoe, California on July 3rd, you will see some of the people who will be in the contest in England. (For reference’s sake, the 2009 contest will be held in Anchorage, Alaska).

There are quite a few pictures here of participants from many previous contests, as well as links to various clubs and associations. Previous world contest results are here, as well as a collection of press coverage. The Warp-o-Meter gives this site an 8.0 rating. Not too bad since he doesn’t have a beard.
