The price of gas not withstanding, it’s the summer driving season. It is time to start planning the annual vacation, where you want to go, how you want to get there, and most important, what are you going to do after you get there. If the latter is on your mind, then today’s Warped site is one that can help you with your planning.
Roadside America, by its own site banner, it is the guide to offbeat tourist attractions. The authors of this Web site have explored the highways and byways of our country, researched these unusual locations, and then provided directions and descriptions of those sites. Among some of these sites are:
- Urbana, Ohio - World’s Largest Loaf of Bread
- Herndon, Virginia - Perils of Jungle Miniature Golf
- Lyndonville, Vermont - Star Trek USS Enterprise and Galileo Shuttle
There is also news on interesting tourist attractions, such as the unveiling of actor James Garner’s statue in his hometown of Norman, Oklahoma, or the Tourist Jail in West Virginia that is hosting its 10th annual “Mock Prison Riot” (for that you will have to read it yourself).
This is an interesting Web site - one that can compliment your vacation planning. You can search state by state for attractions, or there are listings for several major metropolitan areas. Either way you will be able to find a place to satisfy your wanderlust for this vacation season.
