Remember my story about cell phones and lightning? Looks like the warning applies to iPods as well.

Two weeks after British doctors warned that keeping cellphones and other metallic objects in your pocket can increase the amount of internal damage incurred if lightning strikes, a Colorado teenager was burned after he was struck by lightning while listening to music on his iPod.

The insides of Bunch’s ears were burned and he lost some hearing, and he had burn marks in the outline of his earphones from his ears, down his right side to his hips where his iPod was. [Source: LiveScience]

We Say: Well, I guess iPod users will have to start worrying about more than hearing loss, at least in areas where lightning is prevalent! Although, and it’s unfortunate, Bunch lost some of his hearing as a result of the lightning strike as well.

About RealTechNews
When blogs became “hot,” we looked at the category and found a gap. Tech blogs were furiously covering gadgets and gizmos and new products from Asia, and the mainstream tech sites were diligently doing product reviews and news items, but no one was really sitting in the middle and bringing the best of both worlds to one place. Enter RealTechNews (RTN). Our mission is simple: We aim to bridge the gap between the informal and mostly amateur-run tech blogs and the polished but often slow and advertiser-supported tech portals.
