Michael Santo of RealTechNews writes:
Earlier this week Jimmy wrote about a possible Wi-Fi Media Player being developed by Microsoft. Late in the week, Microsoft had its own statement: Nah.
Microsoft has said reports that the company is planning an MP3 player to rival the iPod are based on “speculation and rumours.” The software giant and games console firm said it did not “have anything to announce at this time.” [Source: BBC News]
We Say: I think Microsoft is tired of waiting for Creative or whoever to come up with something to rival the iPod. Besides Jimmy’s post, I wrote even earlier, here and here, about possible iPod killers. I hate to put this in print, but I think there is a very good chance this is real and I hope (if all goes well in R&D-land) to see it by Christmas for the holiday rush.

About RealTechNews
When blogs became “hot,” we looked at the category and found a gap. Tech blogs were furiously covering gadgets and gizmos and new products from Asia, and the mainstream tech sites were diligently doing product reviews and news items, but no one was really sitting in the middle and bringing the best of both worlds to one place. Enter RealTechNews (RTN). Our mission is simple: We aim to bridge the gap between the informal and mostly amateur-run tech blogs and the polished but often slow and advertiser-supported tech portals.
