SAN JOSE, Calif. TiVo and Verizon are teaming up to allow cell phone users to remotely program television recordings.
An agreement with Verizon Wireless, to be announced tomorrow, expands on TiVo’s strategy to bring its capabilities beyond its set-top-boxes and the television.Dubbed TiVo Mobile, it’s also the latest feature the company is introducing to help differentiate itself from the growing number of rival D-V-R offerings.
I wonder if TiVo is able to activate from places that don’t have land lines, yet. That seemed to be my biggest beef with the service when I hooked up a couple of years ago, considering I only have a cell phone. Luckily, a kind neighbor and a very long telephone cable got the job done. I hope the process is a little more sophisticated nowadays…
