If you’re like me, you worry about your computers running too hot or too loud. Either can be very annoying whether it’s the whirring of fans or your very own space heater.

In my case, I had a Dell laptop that was doubling as a kotatsu, heating the underside of my desk while I worked and played on the machine.

With SpeedFan, you can solve these problems choosing the speed of your fans and thus control the amount of noise or heat you get from your machine.

Monitor the heat, and when it gets too hot, manually adjust the speed to cool the machine off or set everything automatically, choosing the right balance of fan noise/speed and heat for you.

My fans were only running at half their capability, which explains the heat problem. The machine was always very quiet, so I found a level of noise/speed I was happy with (about 80% of capability) and my machine runs much cooler now… though my legs and feet aren’t as warm as they were before!
