How old is old? I mean, really, is thirty too old or too young? Fifty is a milestone that we all either look forward to or run away from. In terms of the Internet, old can be measured in terms of less than twenty years. That is why today’s site is one that is kind of cool, since it talks about old Internet sites. Kinda cool, from a geekish, historical point of view.
The site is called ghostsites. It is an article by Steve Baldwin on how he went looking for the oldest active Web pages. There are several of them, with small reviews of those sites. I especially like Vigilante Electronics. According to Steve, “the layout hasn’t changed a bit since 1997. Hey, if it works, don’t fix it!”
Steve has some other interesting articles as well; be sure to check out his home page and drop him an e-mail if you like his work. The host site for this is very interesting as well, and most likely will grace this site in the not too distant future. The Warp-o-Meter gives this site an 8.0. I am always a sucker for good history, and this one rates right up there.
