Grateful Dead

One of the most warped bands (I mean that in a positive sense) that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to has not been live on stage for over ten years. The people who follow them do not just listen to the music, they embrace the lifestyle that it inspires. So if you’re ready to truck on up to Buffalo, then today’s site is where you need to be.

The name of the site is simply Grateful Dead. It is a fansite for one of the most enduing rock-n-roll bands of all time, the Grateful Dead. From their folk and bluegrass roots in the early ’60s, to blues and acid rock of the late ’60s and early ’70s, the wall of sound, and the super concerts of the ’80s and ’90s, it is all here. There is a discography, biographies, links to other sites, and information that is helpful to those who are just discovering the Dead, or are looking up some obscure fact or lyric.

What sets this band apart was the relationship they had and have with their fans. What major rock band allowed people to not only tape their shows, but trade them with others? With certain restrictions, that practice continues today. The concerts were events to be enjoyed, as no two were ever the same (even if they played the same songs, which almost never happened). To sum it up, it is all about the music.

The Warp-o-Meter gives this deadhead site a 7.5 for its ongoing dedication to the band, and the support it gives to the faithful fans.
