According to the State of Spyware Report from webroot, 2005 was the biggest year yet for spyware, so you know they are raking it in somewhere. They have stated that with the rise in Data Breaches and the increase in the amount of sophistication they are using, this has resulted in record infection rates for the worst types of spyware.
