inSPOT, The Anonymous Online STD Reporting Service

Maybe I’m old and jaded, or just too old to do more than stare at a new online service called “inSPOT” that lets you notify sex partners by an anonymous and very edgy-looking e-mail greeting card, to let them know that oh by the way, I have an STD.

On the one hand, anonymous notification could save someone’s life, but on the other, this method seems like a perfect target for scary hoaxes, or just outright disbelief. Plus, it eerily resembles the logo and marketing for the rip-off inPulse pay as you go calling service from Verizon. Coincidence?
