Netgear to Push WiFi to Near Ethernet Speeds

Tris Hussey of RealTechNews writes:

Netgear has announced the latest in their line of speed-barrier busting WiFi devices. This latest device RangeMax 240 Wireless Router (WPNT834) and 240 Wireless Notebook Adapter (WPNT511) pushes WiFi to near Ethernet speeds of 240 Mbit/sec. The Netgear devices use the Atheros MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) antenna technology to both boost speed and reduce/eliminate interference with objects and other radio frequency devices (RF) like cordless phones and microwaves.

The question is: should you upgrade? Unlike 802.11g WiFi, MIMO isn’t a standard. So this means that to take advantage of this speed boost you have to buy the new router and WiFi adapters for each WiFi device on your network (assuming that you want them all to have the same connection speed).
