So what’s a blog worth? After AOL recently acquired Weblogs.com for $25 million, Tristan Louis looked at the Weblogs portfolio and figured it was worth $564.54 per incoming link (he used Technorati as the tool to determine the number links). This has spawned a flurry of chatter within the blogosphere as people debate Louis’ valuation approach while quietly calculating how much their blogs are theoretically worth.
We Say: The acquisition of blogs is an inevitable part of the bloging world’s evolution so do not be surprised if some of the more popular sites are acquired, especially those that already generate plenty of advertising. In buying Weblogs.com, AOL may have set the wheels in motion for other deals. The big question is: Who’s next?
