Wifi Camera Introduced by Nikon

The first wifi camera has been introduced today by Nikon. Nikon announced the new wireless LAN support for it’s CoolPix line of cameras in a press release today, exclaiming “Providing versatility beyond any previous compact camera, the new COOLPIX P1 and COOLPIX P2 can boast all the advantages of built-in Wi-Fi LAN support.”

Now why, you may be asking yourself, would someone want wifi on their camera? It’s not like they are going to use it to log in and check their email from Starbucks (is it?)

Explains Nikon, “With the advantages of built-in Wi-Fi LAN support (IEEE802.11b/g), the new COOLPIX P1 and COOLPIX P2 realize new picture-taking potential by doing away with the need for wires and cables.
