When I wrote my detailed how-to on installing a Sirius satellite radio in your car, I chose the cheapie StarMate model for one very important reason: I knew that Sirius was behind in the hardware category and would have better and better products on the way as the year went on. I also drive a scooter to work, and setting up the StarMate would have been possible but not very practical - I wanted a Walkman style receiver.
Today my prayers have been answered with the new Sirius S50 - a time shifting TiVo-like unit that records up to 50 hours of your favorite channels. Doesn’t get any better than that. Only hitch: it’s $359 vs. $99 for my cheapie and you need to be connected to a docking station get a live signal.
