I have been a fan of NetFlix since it launched, but lately have grown tired of all the mailing back and forth. When my company planned a trip last month to the Galapagos that essentially left me on a boat with no phone or Internet, and a very strict luggage weight limit, I thought about loading up on the DVDs, but opted instead to download a few flicks from MovieLink instead. Movielink, if you haven’t used it is a great download rental service that has all the makings of a hit if the studios would just let it fill up with top blockbusters and new releases, instead of a slightly more shall we say, esoteric collection.

Now it looks like Netflix is getting into the same boat. Downloading will beat all that red envelope mailing, but until someone can unlock the studios and set this category free, I wouldn’t see this as a major hit just yet.
