Apple Gone Sour?

It seems like the iPod might be approaching the saturation point. In other words, nearly everyone who has the desire to get one (and the money!) now has one. Sales are leveling off and the latest financial reports are starting to show the effect of that on the bottom line.
Shares of Apple Computer Inc. slid nearly 5 percent Friday following reports that sales of its iPod digital music player appear to be slowing.
Investment firm Goldman Sachs said in a report Thursday that it expects shipments of Apple’s digital music player to be flat this quarter. Internet news site AppleInsider also reported Thursday that Apple has a glut of most iPod models, especially the recently launched iPod Shuffle.
Apple’s fortunes have been tied to the iPod since it started its quick rise to tech stardom. Not to take anything from its fame - it IS a very good product. However, Apple has always set it at a very high price point, as is usual with Apple products, and they may have to change that or watch sales continue to slide.
