What did I do for my summer vacation? Impress Google!

I think that mentor programs like Google’s is great for young people. Back when I was showing potential as a young man, I only wish there were opportunities like this for kids in my area.

In an effort to get some feet wet, Google kicked off its Summer of Code program to match aspiring programmers with open-source projects this week. Only students 18 years or older that are currently enrolled in or accepted into accredited programs can apply, but if you’re an OSS project in dire need of help, you’re out of luck—submissions are closed for the year.
