Sony Will Stop Manufacturing 3.5 Inch Floppy Discs Soon

I went to the Sony Store the other day in another attempt to obtain some Sony floppy discs. This trip was more successful than the last time I went on this mission. The salesman was very helpful - although he didn’t have any (as was the case six months ago when I visited a different location), he looked in his computer for a store in my area that had some in stock. When I went to the store that had stock, the salesman there pointed out to me that floppy discs were catalogued in their database with a code that meant ‘to be discontinued’.

Lots of you out there don’t have a floppy drive in your computers - but for someone like myself, it’s another weapon in my arsenal of ways to get data into a sick computer. Oh, there’ll be floppy discs being made by other companies for a while - I just think it’s sad that the inventor of the technology won’t be making them any more…

I have always had the best results with the Sony brand, so I bought out the store - and I’m getting my brother in B.C. to buy me some boxes so I have enough discs for five years. If you like Sony floppy discs, better get yours soon…
